My love for English Springer Spaniels started at an early age, at probably around 7 years old. My grandfather gave us a black and white Springer for Christmas. Emily had a litter of puppies and Hank became a permanent member of our family.
Springers including Amy and Molly joined our family in the years to come. Of course, there was Winston, an Old English Sheepdog who was seen by my Mom and brother stuffed in a pet store crate.
As an adult, one of the most difficult decisions I've ever made was to get a dog of my own. Knowing the enormous responsibility that comes with owning a dog, I wasn't sure if I was up to it. After months of giving it thought, Lucy was welcomed into my home. Seeing me through life's many ups and downs, including the death of both my Dad and Mom, allowing her to cross the Rainbow Bridge last September was one of the most difficult days of my life. I did, however, know it was the right thing to do.
Not wanting the responsibility of a dog, it was a short three months later when I realized I truly missed the companionship of a dog. Enter Millie... a sweet Springer puppy who has filled my life with complete joy. When I shared with my friend Laurel that I wanted a sweet and loving puppy, who would crawl onto my lap and stay there, Laurel delivered. Millie is one of the most sweetest dogs ever and reminds me a lot of Molly. To follow Millie (and her puppy antics!) on Instagram, go to @Millie_TheSpringer.
Over the past few years, I have become more active in fundraising for various Springer organizations. My heart is especially soft for senior Springers and those with special needs. It is through volunteering that I have met some of the most kind and generous people I know... many who have become close friends.
My love of Springers, joy in fundraising for Springer organizations, and my entrepreneurial spirit led me to found ShopTheDogStore.com to offer those who love and support rescue with great quality products to both celebrate and spread the word about animal rescue.
I am proud to share that a portion of each sale made will support various English Springer Spaniel rescue organizations.
